Should I Be Vegan?

Should I be Vegan?

Going vegan is somewhat in vogue these days, but just because something is trendy doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the right thing for you.  When asking yourself, “Should I go vegan,” there are some important questions to consider rather than just the recent celebrities who’ve gone vegan or the article you read on your favorite news site.

While looking through the immense amount of information about the vegan diet, there are several questions you should ask yourself:

  • Why should I go vegan?
  • What should vegans eat?
  • "Should I become Vegan?"

These questions are central to determining if the vegan diet is right for you.

Why Should I Become a Vegan?

For thousands of years, philosophers and statesmen have pondered the benefits of living meat and dairy free. They saw vitality, ethical concerns, and taking care of mother nature as the most noble goals.

The reasons to become vegan are plentiful and can be broken down into the following sections: Health, Animal Rights, and Environment. For many people who are not currently vegan, health reasons can be the most compelling reasons for transitioning to a vegan diet.

Should I become vegan?”  is a question many people start to ask when they want to improve their health, either preventatively or after the diagnosis of an illness. Eating a vegan diet that is whole food and plant-based can lower your cholesterol, which has a direct impact on the incidence of heart disease and it can also reduce your risk of most types of cancer and can even improve your complexion.

Not only is the vegan diet becoming more accepted by the mainstream public, it has also been backed by the American Dietetic Association, saying that vegetarian and vegan diets can “provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases”.

What Should Vegans Eat?

Becoming vegan means eating a diet that consists of whole, plant-based foods including beans, unrefined grains, leafy greens, vegetables, and fruits. Vegans do not consume any animal products, including meat, eggs, dairy, and honey.

It helps to eat sustainable, healthy foods that will make your body feel good so that continueing to live vegan seems easier than living through the many problems that animal-based diets lead to.

If you are a vegan for ethical reasons, you need to pay special concern to the procedures used to process foods and products such as cosmetics.

Vegan meals can be just as tasty as non-vegan meals, and have the added satisfaction in knowing that no animals suffered for for your meal.

A vegan diet is quite challenging in the beginning stages. Many people are addicted to animal products and need moral support or coaching to overcome this addiction. Some people even go through meat and dairy withdrawls. It is often quite hard

The question still remains, “Should I become vegan?” While becoming vegan is a big commitment, the health and environmental benefits alone outweigh the potential initial struggles. Additionally, when you become vegan, you can rest easy knowing that the creation of your meal didn’t involve animal suffering.
